HOW DOES MEMBERSHIP BENEFIT ME?
*Continuing
Medical Education Credits:
Meetings are linked with state of the art presentations on a
variety of medical topics which provide continuing medical
education credits (CME) to members. General body meetings
for members are held on the second Thursday of each month.
Most meetings are sponsored by our corporate health partners
and are held at the finest restaurants in the region.
*Networking:
Meetings allow
a forum for members to network with other African American
health care providers, allied health professionals,
politicians, hospital administrators, health care reform
experts, insurance company representatives, and other
individuals who may affect health care provided by or
delivered to African Americans.
*Nurturing Young Physicians:
The Society
allows a forum for members to be supportive of African
American medical students and house staff.
*Collective Local and National
Representation:
The Society
allows members to be represented among the largest body of
African American health care providers in the state of
Maryland. Members are also represented among the National
Medical Association. This gives our members a collective
voice concerning those legislative issues both locally and
nationally that have a direct impact on our profession.
*Community Service:
There are
numerous opportunities for members to participate in
community service activities with fellow health care
providers.
*On-line Directory:
The general
public is now able to go on-line and search for those highly
qualified health care professionals that make up the
membership. This is most helpful during open enrollment for
our members as there is a growing desire for many to locate
a "Physician of Color". |
